Sirius Radio and my car radio?

I bought a radio from sirius.com and a subscription and while waiting for it to ship I noticed that my actual car radio that I use now had a the Siruis dog on it and it says "Sirius Ready". Does this mean I didn't need to buy the the radio from sirius and I can just get a subscription for the radio I already have?
