Helping my 9 yr old stay on task in school?

What can you recommend, reward program, extra work, taking away toys etc...that will help me reinforce to my 9 year old son how important it is to stay on task during cl time and complete his ignments. Since I am not there during the day and his teacher is, this has to something I can do at home with him. Thanks so much
