Did the Taliban or Alqaeda ever HATE Saddam?

I'm just wondering if this is true because I can't really get a straight history about Saddam's past. Supposedly he was even trained by the US CIA. If this is true, then why would the Taliban or Alqaeda ever work WITH him? At the same time, I would hear that would very much hurt his own people and that while he was pretty much a tyrant and tortured his own people he still had somewhat of a control of Taliban and Alqaeda forces by fear. Since he would be the one that would release dangerous gases, missles, aults, etc. on so many of his own villages. Is this accurate at all?
