"the hills"... I have a question about that reality serie...?

so... I'm from venezuela and the serie is very popular here... I know it says it's a reality serie so everything must be real, but... it kind of looks like acted... I mean, don't they have their private life? and they are really stupid specially lauren she's sooo fake... but in the serie... but I just want to know if the serie is completely real, or if they do some adjustments so it's more interesting??
